The Restaurant at the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams

Title: The Restaurant at the end of the Universe

    Author: Douglas Adams

    Published: Pan Macmillan, 1980

    Pages: 199

Series: Book 2, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Snippet: "There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened."

Summary: Facing annihilation at the hands of the warlike Vogons is a curious time to have a craving for tea. It could only happen to the cosmically displaced Arthur Dent and his curious comrades in arms as they hurtle across space powered by pure improbability--and desperately in search of a place to eat.

Among Arthur's motley shipmates are Ford Prefect, a longtime friend and expert contributor to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; Zaphod Beeblebrox, the three-armed, two-headed ex-president of the galaxy; Tricia McMillan, a fellow Earth refugee who's gone native (her name is Trillian now); and Marvin, the moody android who suffers nothing and no one very gladly. Their destination? The ultimate hot spot for an evening of apocalyptic entertainment and fine dining, where the food (literally) speaks for itself.

Will they make it? The answer: hard to say. But bear in mind that the Hitchhiker's Guide deleted the term "Future Perfect" from its pages, since it was discovered not to be! (Taken from Goodreads)

Review:  Yet more laughs in the sequel to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.  The Restaurant at the end of the Universe is truly great and I just laughed at so many of the parts.

One thing I love about this book is the characters names.  They're just so odd, names such as Zaphod for example,  but there are a lot more than that.

The plot thickens in this book and I think I'm starting to see what the main focus of the book series is going to be but I can't be 100% sure.

While this series is considered 'old' it is still very readable and I am absolutely loving my journey through the galaxy with Arthur, Zaphod, Ford, Trillion and of course Marvin.

If you haven't read any books in the series you are seriously missing out.  The Restaurant at the end of the Universe is definitely worth checking out!
