Review: Rebecca: The Dark Divine drove me absolutely crazy. I hated it so much but I also really liked it.
Scarlett: I just really liked it. There were moments when I got so sucked into the book that I lost track of time because I just had to keep reading.
I had to keep reading too because the relationship between Grace and Daniel was so intense that I needed to get to the end of the book to find out what was going on.
I adored Daniel, I have a thing for bad-boys but Daniel is just one of the greatest bad-boys I've had the pleasure of reading about. As for Grace, she seemed nice enough. Jude was a bit of a cutie too.
One thing that did put me off though was the whole family had that really wholesome religious family and well it kind of put me off a little because thats not what I like to read.
I have to admit that I'm a big fan of 7th Heaven and The Divines reminded me a bit of the Camden's so it was actually quite nice. Plus it's something different, it's not every day that you read a book with a religious family as the main characters.
I actually had part of the book spoiled for me so I'd been putting off reading it for a really long time but I actually think that the clues were all there from the start so it wouldn't have taken me very long at all to figure out what part of the big secret was.
I agree, I didn't have it spoilt for me but I paid attention and the clues were there subtly but it's not a huge cliffhanger. But I'm still not about to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet.
I have to say that I don't think I want to read the next book in the series just because I'm really happy with how the first one ended. I don't want anything to change. I was so happy at the end of the book that I just feel like Grace and Daniel's story should end right there.
I loved the way The Dark Divine was written and well not everything was resolved in the end so I'd like to find out more about the other parts. In fact, after we've finished our book discussion I feel the need to pre-order The Lost Saint.
I think I might read The Lost Saint one day but right now I'd like to let things finish as they are. But I do applaud Bree Despain on her fine writing skills. I started out reading a chapter a day and I ended up sitting down for a couple of hours just so I could finish it because I needed to know what would happen and I actually couldn't rest until I finished it. I stopped reading at one point and went to bed and ended up dreaming all about what the end of The Dark Divine was going to be.
Wow, I think it had more of a subtle effect on me. I liked Grace and I liked Daniel and I liked Jude and I just loved seeing how all of the characters played off of each other. I do admit I did shed a couple of tears at various parts of the book though because they were just so sad.
Yeah, I did think some parts were quite sad. I just got more frustrated than anything. But in the end I was happy for the most part and think that I was wrong in putting off reading The Dark Divine for so long.
This has to be the longest discussion of a book I have ever seen. But I have just one tiny last thing to add and that is the cover is absolutely gorgeous. Divine almost! I've seen the cover for The Lost Saint too and that one is just as awesome.
Yeah, I basically wanted to read this book because the cover was amazing and the premise sounded so incredible. I love mysteries.
I think it's safe to say that we both enjoyed The Dark Divine and if anyone hasn't read it yet then they should definitely do so immediately.
