It uses a 6-to-6 Firewire cable plus a power supply and is compatible with both Mac and Windows. Your Dell would need a Firewire port or the ability to install a Firewire expansion card. Software should be available for download at the lacie.com website. If you don't have the power supply maybe LaCie support (or Radio Shack) can help you out.

The keynote was terrible.
It's called "MacWorld" yet there was nothing in there about the mac. Just this little toy that dosn't really interest me that much called the "iPhone" and the "Apple TV".
I was desperate to see iLife 07, as I'm going to a place where there is an Apple store, and I really wanted to buy it then. For the very first time, Apple have actually disappointed me. :(

yes, probably. Since I was already on 10.5.8 before I installed CHUD. Uninstall it thru the remover that it came with, and reinstall after your update to 10.5.8. It is better if you download the 10.5.8 combo that update it using the Apple Software Updater.

Here I am, refusing to buy any of the iTMS movies until the DRM is more like the music Fairplay (Either give me DVD video burning or cut the price in half!) and the Mediots at Universal, etc. are wanting to restrict things MORE? LOL.
Cold day in Hell till they get any of my $$$ ...
HDCP/HDMI, Broadcast flag, tighter restrictions on iTMS movie downloads? Heh, they really don't want my $$$ that badly, do they?

You may refuse to do business with the studios due to their draconian rights management, but all the higher end services are covered with them. The result is you're one of the lowest spending consumers on the entertainment industry's radar.
The sad fact is, you don't want to play ball and they could care less when you're in the minority.

I restored my iPod Photo using iTunes without problem. Then it said to connect to the wall charger. I did that and nothing happened after 30 minutes. I connected it back to my computer using a USB (not Firewire) cable and the battery icon came up (not animated, just flashed).
So what can I do at this point?

Missed their chance when Apple didn't approve the improved Google maps app the first time it was available. Now it has improved even more while Maps.app has done nothing, and I'm sure Google has withdrawn the app now that they are doing their own phone OS.

"Aliens vs Predator Requiem" was edited on Final Cut. But that movie was terrible. Maybe it was Final Cut�s fault. ;)
But in all seriousness: I think a new Final Cut version is clearly overdue. FCS3 was more like a feature-patch for FCS2 than a new version. These days not having any kind of native AVCHD support really slows you down (and uses up a lot of storage space) particularly considering the DSLR-hype since 2009!
I remember a friend of mine who had bought a Panasonic HMC 150 (which is a professional camera) before FCS3 was released and was expecting native AVCHD in the next release. He has been waiting for this feature for almost two years now, while all the other big editing systems have had it for a while, as far as I know!
I'm into the casual AVCHD use like most consumers, and while my opinion doesn't count the same as most of the heavy editors commenting, Steve Jobs does tend to have a liking for "the river coming to us" as the best use of resources.
In that regard, and with Intel popping Sandy Bridge on the CES stage in January, AVC will get some much needed silicon on chip for encode/decode; the only codec to get that treatment. I doubt that this is anything but conincidence, as OpenCL / Grand Central are much more necessary for FCP's overhaul, but it strikes me that any Sandy Bridge processor in any Mac will by definition ease the AVCHD issues in all of Apple's video applications. Since AVCHD is in the core, one can imagine imagine that future Xeon processors should be quite suitable for AVCHD editing (it's my understanding that the AVCHD standard supports division of the frame into 4 chunks for multithreading).
I hope that this thread is still alive when FCP arrives and that further, there are commenters with with hands on use of the Panasonic AG-AF100 and Sony NEX video cameras supporting AVCHD and dslr lenses.
