employer changed office space locations in March 2008 no update was provided to USCIS as we just shifted certain operations to a bigger space and older address still valid for receiving letters
May 2008 140 case transferred from Nebraska to Texas service center
September 2008 dreaded email from USCIS automated systems "RFE request for initial evidence case placed on hold"
waited 10 days no response Lawyers called 1st time to USCIS help line received response that about duplicate notice sent. re-verified addresses for both lawyers and employers
15th day from RFE notice employer called USCIS (applicate cannot speak as 140 cases pertain to employer)updated address for employer provided
20th day from RFE notice Lawyers called again help line same response indicating another notice sent. Lawyers also send letter out to Nebraska service center indicating not receiving of RFE letter
28th day from RFE notice employer calls again (this time 800 number found on immigration portal website belived to be the 800 number for Texas service center) same response. USCIS officials issue a tracking case # and indicate that employer would either receive email within 5 working days or notice within 2 weeks.
30th day from RFE notice Lawyer call USCIS again about not receiving the RFE documents. New letter drafted and sent to the Texas service center.
Lawyers ask for assistance from ALA (American Lawyers Associations) for determination of status of RFE
Today we stand at the 43rd from the date of email from USCIS about RFE and no letter has yet being received by either employer or Lawyers
what am I supposed to do? what are my options?

If you have a valid H1 Visa, your wife can enter on H4. Regarding adding your wife's name to your 485 case, I am not sure, but I believe you have to wait until your PD becomes current....

You don't add your wife's name to your I-485. She sends her own I-485. Of course, she can only send it in a month when your PD is Current. She should enter in the US on H4, for which you will need to keep your H1 valid at least until the time of her entry.

Actually coming to India on a work visa is relatively easy. If you are serious, you could apply for a job in many Indian IT companies or BPO companies. I have read many news articles that Indian companies want to hire non-Indians, so that they can respond to many cultures effectively.
As far as living conditions and such. If you can manage in Chicago/NY/DC area, you would not find it difficult to manage in Bombay/Bangalore/Delhi. Actually violent crimes in India is much lower than that of many areas in the US. You can send your kid to school in India and expect him/her NOT to get shot in school.

Multiple PERM applications can be filed if the employers are different.
I am planning on filing a new PERM as a prospective employee of a consulting firm and also have a PERM filed simultaneously from my current employer..

The A# is a case number that USCIS assigns to certain people, and then (usually, for exceptions see below) stays with you for the rest of your life, much like a Social Security Number. Most people get their A# when they apply for adjustment of status. It is also assigned if you apply for an employment authorization document (such as an F-1 OPT), a V visa, find yourself in deportation proceedings, and in a number of other situations.

You will not know until I-140 is filed as the preference category is requested on I-140 and not on the PERM.

I have a question regarding where to file my EAD renewal application. I am a July filer NJ resident and my I-485/EAD/AP were sent to Nebraska and got the AP/EAD approved through Nebraska going by my LIN no. As per the (C)(9) rules it says NJ residents should file to Texas service center and somewhere else I read that my EAD renewal application should be sent to the location where my I-485 is getting processed.
Please share your experiences.

I am in same boat.
I have asked my attorney and she said, they will be going for COS from H1B to H4 and will produce leave of absence from OCT1, 2008 till date(no pay-stubs) and H4 will be based on my husbands H1b status and will produce his paystub and not mone.

Not bad, got visa approved same day. This was my 7th year H1 extension, while I485 is pending, applied last year July..
Got appointment a month before. Consulate automatically checks for PIMS verification within next 2-3 days..I got banamex receipt made by Mexican assistance services, in fact there are many people / company willing to get this receipt made for nominal charges..
Drove to Nogales, AZ. Parked car in one of the parking lot. Cross border by foot through revolving door. No one is there to check any immigration paper for Mexico. People from India do need visa to visit Mexico but rule seems to be bit vague. To visit US consulate in Nogales, one can get local tourist permit (which can be obtained at POA in Mexico immigration. I got Mexico visa for 6 month multiple entry through local Mexican consulate in US. In retrospect, probably I wasted time and money for nothing..No one bothers to check any documents in Mexico, in fact I have look hard to find someone in immigration to stamp my entry in Mexico..
Anyway, got Cab for $7 to US consulate. Reached there at 7.30am. Appointment time was at 8am. But this doesn't matter as consulate will let all Mexican labor visa applicant to go in first (approx 150 of them). I stood in line for about 2 hours, finally got in at 9.30. Process was smooth from there on..got biometrics / photo done and then interview for 2 minutes..IO didn't ask much, just few simple questions..Didn�t even check any extra document. I was advised to come at 3 pm to collect visa which I did. (Spent 4 hours -11am to 3pm in nearby Nogales mall)
Got return cab to border. Took about 30 minutes get new I 94 made. Entered Nogales, AZ comfortably. Car was still parked safely...Returned home happily...Will continue to wait from GC, stuck in PD of April 2006 in EB2

I have an appointment on August 11th in chennai consulate and I am flying tomorrow to India to submit my documents to VFS.
Can any one tell when will the visa number assigned to the CP case?
The reason I am asking is because I am little worried if the date gets moved back after 1st week of august (From last year July fiasco experience) or some thing and I will be in India already, then I will be in big trouble.
Any insight would be appreciated.
