I have not had a very good experience mailing documents to CGI. I would advise against it based on the time crunch we are facing here....
If you go in person and get it done..that would be most optimal..and worry free.

i think it should be ok because some apply with non-availability certificate instead of birth certificate since they cant get one. Usually it depends on the immigration officer who reviews your petition at that time and what decision he takes. disclaimer: But check with your immigration attroney as I'm nt an attroney.

if possible get one with first/last name, i think it is easier to show the existing one and get new one because existing one has parents details too. dont take chances in I-485, because if anyone get RFE (query) then it will delay your case atleast a month or two, because you have to resend one again.

How about birth certificate stating initial and First name (not first name and last name). Any sugestions?

Wow! Great response for a small web forum. Thanks so much for comments and especially the adjustments.

I can see right away that I will be learning a lot of PhotoShop here. That's great! I can obviously learn a great deal about photography from the DSLR forums, but the Members Critique and the Galleries is what I registered for.

I got my cameras to take pictures of friends and family and to use at work. Most of the pictures I take look like a family driver's license photo album. The picture is bad and the subject is worse. I want to learn to capture the unique events because that is where the beauty is.

First I want to learn to take more pictures. I never seem to have the urge, opportunity and camera all in the same place at the same time. Is it as simple as always having my camera at the ready? How do you get people to accept your taking a picture of them without disturbing the event?

I also would like to learn what to take pictures of. I am obviously limited by the capabilities of my Cybershot and circular polarizer. What kinds of photographs, subjects and conditions should I concentrate on so that I can take pictures I will be pleased with?

Then I would like to learn to take pictures of the things that I see and think are interesting. Since I live in Houston that means cityscapes, nature and weather, and interesting people. I especially like people engaged in ordinary activity but with profound contrast of background or setting. Given a limitation of what can be carried on a bicycle or foot (and a reasonable budget,) what kind of camera and accessories would a professional photographer use to take these kinds of pictures?

We went to SanJose Charcote dr. last saturday. Our appointment was at 3pm. But we went at around 1PM as our daughter has a tutoring class between 2-4. They accepted and let us do at 1:15pm. It is cool and not much croud. There are around 10 FP machines and took about 15 min to finish. Our LUD changed next day on our 485 applications. But check the address one day before the appointment. As it shows 122 charcote dr. inside But outside you would see 5 digit numbers and you would easly miss. Also you will not see USCIS on outside board(it shows as some Application center).

BrandonYou have to provide the motivation. The opportunity is everywhere you look.

You will do best taking pictures of things you like. You will put more of yourself into it, and it will show. Whatever equipment you have is sufficient to start climbing that learning curve. When you outgrow it, you will know it and upgrade.

Hello all,

My 6 year H1B is ending on May 21, 2009. I am eligible to file for a 3 year extension since my 140 is approved and I485 has been filed in Aug 2007. However, my current job situation is pretty shaky and I could be laid off anytime. I have an EAD but would like to continue my H1 because my priority date is Jan 2007 (EB3 India)...i.e. a long GC wait. I have been told by my current employer's attorney that I can start the process of extension 6 months prior to current H1B expiring.

But given my job situation, I was thinking of looking for employment with another employer as soon as possible. Will the new employer be able to file for my H1 transfer AND H1 extension at the same time?
OR
Will they have to file for a transfer first (valid from date of switching to May 21, 2009), then wait for approval and then file for the 3 year extension??

I tried looking around for my question but could not find good thread for answer. Please let me know your views and/or point me to a good source for this information.

The RFE is about on what basis i am eligible to extend H1B?. I sent copy of my 485 receipt and MTR copy & letter from my current employer explaining my 485 is pending more than 365 days and AC21 we requested for H1 extension.I thought i am going to get only one year but ..got 3 year extension.If you need more details PM me your phone or email .Will glad to help you

H1 can be revoked by employer anytime, but they'll have to arrange for return transportation(in my opinion it is not as safe a fallback as it is commonly believed to be) - as always it depends on the employer

Before I say any thing further, I want to clarify that I am NOT asking for any action but want to point out to a unique Gandhigiri protest idea proposed by one of our members:

On one of the posts rajmehrotra suggested "Something like a mass blood donation drive will garner empathy and publicity in a positive way." This was seconded by another member Gravitation. Not sure what other people think but I personally liked this idea very much.

So please save this idea for future use if others also recommend it.

saimrathi, I am in the same boat too, got the 693 supplement form last week from DR's office, but we filed 485 application in july 2nd week.this is not our mistake. do we need to worry about this ?

I recd supplementary forms to I-693 for my wife and I from the Civil Surgeon earlier this week. Along with the supplementary forms I recd two envelopes (one addressed to me, and the other one to my wife) that had DO NOT OPEN written on them. I sent these to my lawyer's office.

I called the doctor�s office and this is what I found out. Apparently, when the doctor had first given us the sealed envelopes (in June 2007) she didn�t know that the Supplementary form needs to go with the certification she provided us in the sealed envelopes. We sent the sealed envelopes with our Concurrent I-140 = 485 application recd at NSC on 7/2/07 (as per UPS). Now, some of her clients have recd letters from USCIS asking for the Supplementary form, so she has sent the same out to all of her clients regardless of them getting a letter from USCIS. I hope our application doesn�t get rejected due to this; no checks cashed as of today.

My lawyer's response: No the application should not get rejected because of this...however we will submit the supp doc's report to the USCIS when we get the receipt notices.

Anyone else in the same boat? Is this something to worry about? See signature for more info...

I went through the same ordeal about a year and a half ago. After unsuccessful attempts to buy it on my own through internet companies, I went to a good agent who got me a 20 year term life policy with a AAA rated company for about $220/year for a 500,000 coverage. Basically, I got the same rate an US citizen would get. I would advise you to go through an agent, they can do multiple quote and many are knowledgeable about H1 visas and the best thing is you don't pay any thing extra because the agents get their commission from the insurance companies. Thank you for your reply. The scenario would be...if my husband loses his H1B due to a layoff, etc, then I would lose my H4 status. In that case, will I still be able to enter the US on a B1/B2 as it was initially valid till 2013.

This is one BIG STUPID mistake by your lawyer that can potentially ruin your life. I am hoping for the best for you on the other hand I wish the stupid attorney of yours should be sued in case your application is not accepted.

Hi, my 485 was rejected initially for "misisng or incorrect fee", per the rejection notice my attorney refiled the app. When refiling the app he sent two checks, one for old fee and the other to make up the difference for new fee. So, USCIS has an option to choose. Now, the Supervisor is insisting us to show evidence of a check being sent (or cashed) in the first place. The Supervisor has asked my attorney to take the time he needs and respond via fax once he's done reconciling. Now, that all the applications have been processed, my attorney has been able to reconcile the check register and confirm that they missed to send the check with my application. He is planning on writing an aplology letter to the Supervisor, do you folks think that Sprvr might receipt the app or reject ?

Given, the July fiasco, Fee increase, and the number of applications attorney's had to process these clerical errors are bound to happen I doubt if USCIS will show any leniency in this. Please let me know if any one is in a similar situation.

If the supervisor rejects the application (as its incomplete) what would be options ? Can I write a letter to USCIS director and explain him the situation and ask him to reconsider it ? Bottom line, why cannot they give us a second chance. It's evident that USCIS has done mistakes as well (improper fee rejections etc). I do understand that there is no law requiring them to return my app on time (in fact they kept it for 95 days before they rejected), if they returned my app on time I would have had a chance to return it back with fee. Any thoughts ? Thanks.
