President Obama recently mentioned plans for holding a White House meeting to discuss proceeding with immigration reform legislation. And now he is keeping that promise by setting June 8th, just three weeks from now, to hold the meeting. Hopefully, they reach some logical conclusion on legal immigrant petitions. All we can do from outside is to influence their discussions/debates by making our views heard.

Cases filed in the so called 245 -i
do they have to go the same procedure like any other employement category???
i mean , 1. get labour approved by state and fed ,
2. get 140 approval ,
3.file I-485 get approval and then do they get their GC.
My question is if they have to go through all this process and if their labours are still stuck at Back log centers then there is no point in stopping the PD's
at all , no one knows for sure when the labours will get cleared , I-140's cleared etc., for the 245-i cases.
if they have to go through all the above i feel that the pD's will move ahead for some time and move back again.
a big mistake in the justification /estimation BY DOL to stop pds , if the 245-i cases have to go through the same procedure as employement cases.

Everything is done only for illegals now a days... why should the politicians do anything for EB immigration for legally tax paying immigrants ?

Democratic party is actually horrible when it come to skilled imigrants. In the past the GOP have done for skilled folks like AC21 ets. DNC is for Unions (who oppose the H1B/EB people) and illegals (who like to keep us hostage for amnesty bills).

USCIS might be processing the applications in the order of recipt date
(need not adjudicate the application which is based on priority date)
So, i think USCIS can process applications without priority date being current.
I think this is correct. They can have the app reviewed and mark it approvable if it has all the necessary documents, then when the PD is current (meaning visa number available) they will pull it off the shelf, allocate visa number to it and send out the approval notice.
That's my guess, I have not seen their SOP (std operating procedure).

Even approved GC and Neutralized Citizenship certificates also can be revoked, if it was found later that there was some fraud involved in it.
I know the GC and citizenship process is long and hard, but did not realize it required such sacrifices (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=neuterizing)... :D

As of last Sept, there was no requirement to drop off the application a week before the interview, however, Mumbai did have that requirement.
By the way, did you investigate the delays due to PIMS? Any update on how one can request the information about the approved H-1B sent to the consulsate?

My lawyer asked me to use A# on OPT card as the A# on my 485 application. USCIS does not normally assign A# when 140 is approved. There are only rare scenarios when it does that. Please use the A# on your opt card so that USCIS can easily find your records from the student days.
I was a student on f1 and had applied and used my OPT period. The OPT card has A#. I am applying I-485 with I-140 pending and have I-140 reciept

You can create a new account with a new email address and then use that to point to the same case numbers. This would be the best approach if you don't have the contact numbers.

Canada option though attractive has his own problems and I mean serious problems!. When you apply for stamping, consulate will first cancel your existing visa so if your H1B is denied you have to go to your home country from Canada!
I heard sometimes visa is not issued immediately due to admin processing or whatsoever.
In such cases, will they return the passport atleast so that one can travel to India till things get resolved.
And how do they let us know when to come back when things get ready.
Hyd consulate is asking so many many documents.

Hello,
I currently hold H1b visa (cap quota), i have an offer from a non profit organization and they are willing to sponsor for my H1b (non cap as this is from a non profit org). I'd like to know will there be any problem if in future i plan to move to a company that will sponsor h1b (cap). How difficult is to transfer from non cap h1 to cap h1?
I read online that if i plan to move from a non-cap h1 to cap h1 in future i have to apply in April under the general quota and wait until Oct to start work again. though i can work until the petition is pending.
I'd really appreciate any advise...

My company informed me today that, when spouse is added to the insurence, the insurence will start from day 1 of next month. My wife will be comming in the middle of month. How to cover this gap with insurence...?? Any suggestions...????
If you show them marriage certificate they should be able to backdate the dates of coverage. That is what happened in my case. Other option is to shop for private insurance for few days. You will pay premium. Get some cheaper insurance then you run risk of lot of loopholes in coverage. Get travel insurance from companies in India. There are plenty and you can find discussion on this forum. Check with pre existing condition clause with your insurance company even if the coverage starts from 1st.
Other option is to have your wife come after 1st of month or pray to God that she doesn't fall sick, just kidding.
