Bookish Webs

If you're anything like me then you'll love looking at different websites that are about books. I love reading book blogs, but I also like to look out for other bookish websites. That is why I have created this meme type of thing where on the second Wednesday of every month I'll feature a bookish web that you may like to go to or you may already know about.



This month's bookish webs post is about Net Galley.



Net Galley is a website for reviewers of any type of media to have access to pre-release copies of books before the ARCs are printed.  The only downside to this is that they're in ebook form so if you don't like reading ebooks then most likely you may not want to join Net Galley.  There is a feature where you can request paper copies of the books but I'm not sure if they're willing to ship outside of their countries.








Anyone can join Net Galley if you're a blogger, anywhere in the world.  You can join up by going here.



There is a huge selection of books to choose from and you can choose what to browse by genre or by publishing company.  I'm a member of Net Galley and the books I have received for review are Cake Keeper Cakes by Lauren Chattman, Tyger Tyger by Kersten Hamilton, The Mermaid's Mirror by L.K Madigan and Dead is Just a Rumour by Marlene Perez, so it is useful.







The entire set up of Net Galley is really easy to use and incredibly easy to navigate.  It's definitely a worthwhile website to check out.

Bookish Webs

This months Bookish Webs post I'll be talking about the site Book Blogs which was created on a Ning network.








Basically, Book Blogs is a network dedicated to people who have a book blog and want to be a part of a large book blogging community. There are several features on Book Blogs that allow you to take part in the book blogging community any way that you want.







When you sign up you can create and personalize a page for yourself to show your blog, you can even put your blog entries up if you want to. Having a personalized page like this also allows authors and other bloggers to find and contact you if you wish them to.




Some of the other things you can do are go to the forums and post topics that you want to have discussions about or you can discuss with others on posts that are already up.
There are also groups you can join so if you're a fan of something specific like paranormal romances then you can search for groups and join them where you can chat with people with similar things.

I have a book blogs account but have abandoned it of recent just because I haven't really been using it.

Bookish Webs

This weeks Bookish Webs post is The YA Blogosphere created by Steph Bowe of Hey! Teenager of the Year.








If you're looking for specific YA book blogs then the place to go is the YA blogosphere. It's a handy little blog that showcases YA book blogs and sorts them into categories so you can find specific book blogs.


There are two main ways in which the blogs are sorted. One is into countries so if you're looking for blogs from certain countries you can go to the sidebar piece entitled Country. As you can see in the picture above I did a quick search on book blogs from New Zealand.








The other way you can do a search for book blogs is by Genres & Features which you can find in the sidebar below the section for Country. As you can see in the picture above I did a search for blogs specializing in paranormal romance.



Another handy thing about The YA Blogosphere is that it is a blog on blogger so you can become a follower and then you will be updated whenever a new blog is added into the directory.

Bookish Webs

This months bookish web is LibraryThing. I only recently discovered LibraryThing but already I think it's a really interesting site. You can use it personally or as an organisation as a book cataloguing tool.







Everything about LibraryThing is set out really neatly and I found it quite easy to maneouver my way around the site. I also noticed one very good thing, on the main page there is a link for a tour of LibraryThing and it is actually really helpful and it is very good. If you want to check it out just go here.





Another thing I wanted to point out was the Common Knowledge section and how it contains a lot of facts all to do with books and their authors and anything related to the books. It's quite hard to explain entirely the best way would be to check it out here.









While there are some very cool things about LibraryThing I have to point out that you can only catalogue 200 books unless you pay a certain fee to become a member. There's more information about that on the privacy policy found here.

Overall, I do think that LibraryThing is a really well set out and organised site. I personally don't have a librarything account as of this moment.

Bookish Webs

This month for Bookish Webs I am going to be featuring Thomas Nelson : Book Review Bloggers. This is a site for anyone who has a book blog and you can receive free books for review from Thomas Nelson Publishing Company.

To become a reviewer for Thomas Nelson you can sign up here. They will then check out your blog to make sure it's legitimate and if it is you can choose one book for review at a time. An example of some of the books available is below. Alternatively you can check out this page.
There are a few guidelines about the reviews and you have to post your review on your own blog and another site. For more information about the guidelines you can visit here.
You can also read reviews here. Below is a picture of a few of the books that you can read reviews for. All reviews have an average star rating so you can read reviews for the best books if you want.
Overall, I think that Book Review Bloggers is a really good bookish web. I've been reviewing books for them for a few months and have reviewed a total of four books.
I find them really good because they cater to international bloggers such as myself and they give you a lot of helpful reviewer resources for the books you're reviewing.
