Valerie Anne Poxleitner, known professionally as Lights, is a singer-songwriter hailing from a small town in Ontario, Canada. She began her musical career early playing the guitar, but really took off in 2006 after aiding with the songwriting for a television show, Instant Star, and then she released a music video for her own song, February Air. In 2009, she released her first album, The Listening, which is quirky, catchy, and full of life. Lights' music is best described as synth pop, incoporating lots of synthesizers mixed with ....a keytar! Her lyrics are simple and sweet and always leave you with a smile on your face. Songs worth checking out are, February Air, The Last Thing on Your Mind, and of course, Ice - so appropriate for the weather we're having right now.
Lights' closet is packed full with graphic tees, cropped leather jackets, black skinny jeans, and combat boots. Oh, and mega body art, seen here, and here, and here. She keeps her long black hair parted to the side and sweeped over, and rocks the black smokey eye. She may be best described as Comic-Book-Hero Chic...
