Review: I've never really been a fan of werewolves or romance novels but Shiver was a good choice in book for me to read.  Maggie Stiefvater is an amazing author, she weaved so much magic into the book Shiver by her descriptions alone.





I liked the relationship between Sam and Grace.  It wasn't a clingy, needy relationship. They cared about each other equally and they just make the most amazing couple ever. They were so comfortable with each other and it was actually believable.





The story line was really good. It was enough to keep me reading on in interest.  Not just because I feel obligated to finish the book.





I think my favourite characters were Sam and Grace. Maybe more Sam but the good thing is I have found a book where I love the main characters and not the little obscure characters.





Overall, Shiver is an amazing read and the werewolf angle is not overdone, there's just the right mix of romance and werewolves that makes the book work. I love the descriptions in the book too.  If you haven't read Shiver yet, you definitely should because it's fantastic.  I cannot wait for Linger.

Summary: Domestic violence exists. That is a simple disturbing fact. It isn’t something that should be ignored or swept under the rug. It is imperative to face this problem, acknowledge its existence and do our best to aid those who are exposed to it. Children, all too often, are susceptible to accepting responsibility for their parent’s bad behavior. They need to understand that they are not responsible for the violence. This book attempts to explain a very complicated issue to young children.
Review: The topic of Mommy's Black Eye is domestic violence and sometimes a parent doesn't really want to read a book about domestic violence to their child but some do because they want them to know whats out there. Luckily, Mommy's Black Eye is highly suitable for young children and simplifies things down so that young children can get a brief and simple understanding that it's not acceptible for one parent to hurt another one.
The illustrations are really good and children and adults will love them.
I really liked reading Mommy's Black Eye because it was easy to read and simple and I think it would be a really good book to teach children about domestic violence in a simple way.
If any parent is looking for a good book to read to their child about this kind of issue Mommy's Black Eye is definitely a good one, check it out if you're interested.
