A wonderful dining experience is yours to enjoy - Canal Street at the Orleans!

Introduction of New Menu Items at Canal Street - Orleans Hotel & Casino

The Canal Street restaurant at the Orleans refreshes its menu every eighteen months or so to keep up with their customer's changing palates. Items that have been added include one of the most delicious and creamy and delightful Lobster Bisque that I have had the pleasure of tasting! Chef Philip Bonanno did share some of his secrets on how this delish dish is prepared - think of slow roasting lobsters, then adding a mixture of cognac cream and mushrooms and what you have is a smooth buttery melt in your mouth bisque. Do yourself a favor and order a bowl! Another great appetizer is the beef short rib ravioli with everything being handmade and direct from the chef!

Wine is a large part of an experience when enjoying a meal and Sommelier John Messana added some well rounded and enjoyable wines to go with each course, however two were outstanding! A Sonoma Cutrer, Pinot Noir, Russian River was perfect with the Chili Cured and Cilantro crusted Lamb lollipop. Sometimes lamb can have a slightly gamey taste and this lamb was cooked to perfection and was tender and the earthiness of the wine enhanced it without overpowering the taste.

Asti Spumante is a sweet wine and not one that I have ever really enjoyed. However my opinion was changed with the introduction of the Michele Chiarlo Moscato di Asti – Piedmonte, Italy! This Asti is grown in soil that is adjacent to a peach orchard and that is what wafts up your nose as you drink this nectar! Sweet and peachy made this another delightful pairing with the flourless chocolate cake and raspberry soufflĂ©! Several “Old Vegas” desserts have been added to the menu, such as Baked Alaska and Cherries Jubilee.

Two more ingredients go into creating the entire dining experience and that is atmosphere and service. A fine dining restaurant should be relaxing and enjoyable and that is exactly what Canal Street delivers. Also keep in mind that this would be a wonderful place to celebrate Valentine’s Day!

Canal Street hours are Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 702.365.7111.
