Butterfly Bling

Something about Spring and Summer just make me think of the cutesy insects that come out to play and the adorable fashion patterns that come from them. Of course, most insects ARE NOT CUTE (and are actually beasts in disguise!) but butterflies are by far my favorites. NSWOR: Recreating J. Crew Looks

Ever wonder when you're shopping online if the clothes will look the same on you as they do on the model? I'm sure you do, I'm sure everyone does. I've collected a lot of J. Crew items and I just thought I'd do a little post with outfits inspired by the J. Crew catalogues - and I chose to highlight on the sequin skirt just because it is a difficult item to wear. I threw in some others for some fun! Well....only the ones that worked.... hahah :) Enjoy!



Look no. 1




Okay I love this look, but these sequin skirts are hard to wear!
They look lovely, but are prone to wear and tear very easily, also
my sequin skirt isn't the J. Crew on pictured above....its actually a
sequin scarf my mum fashioned into a skirt, just cause she's got mad
sewing skillz. Actually, I like her skirt better than the J. Crew one.....Opps

Look no. 2




So I kinda improvised for this one but I really like this outfit.
I'm wearing the real J. Crew sequin mesh bell skirt in oyster here,
it's pretty cute, very short, but has pockets unlike my scarf skirt.
Maybe next time I'll try it with a long sleeve white blouse :)

Love, love, love this outfit! I don't have the Delaney skirt
so I just subbed with my sequin skirt....and if you're worried
about the sequin skirt catching on chairs etc. wrapping a sweater
helps a lot. It actually looks pretty cute too!

This is definitely my favorite outfit of the bunch, chic but
casual. And I had not thought of pairing my oxfords with
thigh highs before - I really like them together!

LOVE the voile skirt....so fabulous....fits, looks, feels fab!
This outfit is so adorable, I really love it and had it specficially
in mind when I bought the skirt. But it's very versatile! Looks
amazing with a boyfriend blazer or tank. LOVE!

Circle Scarf turned Maxi Skirt!

Hey Lovelies! So I passed in the final draft of my thesis/research paper yesterday for my Masters :) What a relief! *wipes sweat off forehead* SOOOO that means hopefully my blog will start getting back to normal soon! And what a wonderful way to start than with my second submission for Everybody, Everywear :D This month's item to remix is a bit of a challenge for me....its a maxi dress or skirt......and I don't own one. Mainly because I don't think a maxi dress is really my style, I like short skirts and dresses best. But I had to try and figure out something out! And when I read the DIY LE SAC MAXI I had a brillant idea! Why not wrap my fav american apparel circle scarf around my waist as a maxi skirt?!?!! Remix complete. Enjoy!

Okay so to make this look work, I had to wear a mini dress underneath - mainly cause I was terrified of my scarf skirt falling off - but it worked out really well! I'm excited I have a maxi skirt without even knowning it - I think this will be perfect for the beach this summer :)  So what's the verdict folks? Cool? Crazy? Scarves should only be worn as scarves? I think I like this look....altho, a few safety pins are needed :)

P.S. I went and bought some new lipstick last week (I literally haven't bought lipstick in YEARS) and I'm in love! It's Covergirl LipPefection Lipcolor in 300 Flame. This is such a fabulous color for me - and I can't believe it brings out the blue in my eyes so well. Oh, Covergirl, you never let me down <3
